As Liz England prepares to get ordained and take up a new post outside Birmingham, she looks back with thanks on her time at Christ Church.
Due to the time she has spent in training and on placements Liz has not had much opportunity to pursue active ministry in Christ Church, but she and other members of the England family have still been very much part of our fellowship.
They have got involved through home groups, helping run the computer projection system in services, joining in the Youth Encounter trip to East Africa and in countless other ways. We will miss them all!
After getting ordained at the end of June I will be going to St Nicholas’ Church in Codsall where I will be curate. For the next 3 to 4 years I’ll be trained in the things I need to learn to be able to run my own church – everything from leading services to which way up to hold the baby in baptism!
I am very excited about this move and the rest of the family have always been very supportive towards my call to church ministry, although the move out of Birmingham has been a tough one to get used to. I feel I am honoured to be following in the footsteps of my mum and my grandpa who were priests before me.
We have loved being at Christ Church and will miss the fellowship, the worship, the preaching, our house groups and youth groups and most of all the friends we have made. We have felt so welcomed and settled here even though we knew it would be our church for only two and a half years while I studied at Queens.
We particularly want to thank Geoff and the ministry team who have cared for us throughout this venture. I will also carry amazing happy memories of Jenny Mason in my heart as she was a constant friend and support throughout this time. I still miss her deeply.
We leave our love and thanks to all the church family.
