The Great Birmingham Run brought crowds of runners and local spectators out on to the streets on an overcast Sunday morning in October. Christ Church members and friends were there to encourage the runners, provide hospitality for spectators and take part in the race.

On three Thursdays in August, at a time of year when most regular activities take a break, we opened our building to provide play, company, crafts and more for adults and children.
Speaking up on climate change
What are the things we value that are threatened by climate change? In an All Age service we expressed our concerns in words and pictures. Later in the month a group of Christ Church members took the message to Parliament as we joined in a national day of action.
Launching our CAP Debt Advice Centre
Six local churches have joined together with award-winning national charity Christians Against Poverty to offer advice and support to people in South Birmingham who are struggling with unmanageable debt. Our Debt Advice Centre launched in April 2015. Centre Manager Judy Ward is building a team of volunteer helpers from each of the partner churches.
Christmas 2014
Christmas is an opportunity to take the love of God into homes, pubs, shops and people’s lives, and throughout December we’ve been running a busy programme of events aiming to do just that. Some highlights are listed here: also see our Services and Events page.
Lunch Club Craft Fayre 2014
An exhibition by the Art Group was one of the main features at this year’s Craft Fayre. The Lunch Club team, led by Phil and Beryl, brought many different church groups and outside organisations together in one event which attracted a steady stream of visitors. Over £800 was raised which will benefit children in Kenya and Tanzania.
Freedom from Torture
There are victims of torture right here in Birmingham, many seeking asylum from the regimes that tried to silence them. We learned about what can be done to help them and discussed some of the wider issues in a Café Church session led by Amy and Jill from the charity Freedom from Torture.
Slum Survivor
Young people spent a night and a day living in temporary shelters to learn about the experience of a billion of the world’s population.
