It was a long but exciting day as the first Birmingham International Marathon passed us along Pershore Road, followed by thousands more runners in the Half-Marathon. We were there to support the race, enjoy the atmosphere and greet spectators and runners.
Applause as runners approach Christ Church
Spectators gathered on the steps and pavement
Loving the atmosphere of a street race
A high-five in the middle of Pershore Road
No need for the long distance runner to be lonely today
The fabulous musicians playing outside our building put in a marathon (and a half) shift
The musicians had this view for several hours
Our vicar and retired half-marathon runner Geoff watches the race
We had a large supply of cakes and drinks in our entrance hall
There was some cake left over for the runners
Activities in and around the building included a bouncy castle, table tennis, water play and some quieter pursuits – including a prayer space
Santa’s getting into training!
See you again at the finish line! Daddy’s going the long way round
Thousands of runners passed us along Pershore Road on the day
There’s more about our support for this event over the years on our Great Birmingham Run page.
